General Information:
Posters should be a maximum of 4 x 4 ft. Strict adherence to this size restriction must be met since there will be two posters displayed simultaneously on each side of the poster board. Presenters with odd-numbered abstracts should stand by their posters from 4:00-5:00 PM and for those with even-numbered abstracts from 5:00-6:00 PM. The poster session will run concurrently with a reception, affording an informal atmosphere to interact.
Posters should contain:
- Abstract
- State the question you are asking or what you are investigating.
- Provide enough background information so the readers understand the scientific questions being addressed.
- Describe the basic methods being used.
- Present data in a clear format, i.e. easy to read tables, graphs, and figures.
- Present a conclusion.
Do's & Don'ts
- Do arrange the information your poster so that it 'flows'
- Do clearly label tables and graphs
- Do select a font size that can be comfortably read from a distance of 3-5 feet
- Do enjoy yourself!
- Don't exceed the 4 x 4 foot poster 'footprint'− you will be sharing the board with others
- Don't use small text or figures − you'll have a 'crowd' of visitors all trying to read your poster
- Don't move your poster − people want to find you and the program booklet provides a map
- Don't worry − sure it's your first poster, but you're among friends
Also:
- Push pins are provided
- Make sure you get something to drink (soda or beer) and a snack
- Make sure you remove your poster immediately after the session
