About Us

The Autumn Immunology Conference depends on a group of dedicated individuals who contribute their time and effort to make the annual Autumn Immunology Conference a success.

      We are a nonprofit organization governed by an Executive Council whose members come from both academia and industry.

Conference chair Dr. Randy Sacco, Iowa State University
Heads this year's meeting, sets agenda, leads Council meetings, contacts speakers and coordinates symposia.
Secretary Dr. Beth Garvy, University of Kentucky
Last year's Workshop chair; next year's Conference chair. The secretary keeps council meeting notes, assists with program booklet; nominates new council members.
Workshop coordinator Dr. Michael Farrar, University of Minnesota
Calls for abstracts, coordinates workshops and workshop chairs, responsible for the annual Program booklet.
Liaison to Sponsors Dr. Cathy Nagler, University of Chicago
AIC contacts with sponsors, coordinates the special needs of sponsors whose support is crucial for the continued success of the meeting.
Liaison to Academia Dr. Maria-Luisa Alegré, University of Chicago
Academic departments and individuals work together with the Liaison to Academia to provide vital support to our annual meeting.
Liaison to Exhibitors Dr. Thomas Mitchell, University of Louisville
AIC contact with exhibitors, coordinates the special needs of exhibitors whose sponsorship is important to the meeting.
Treasurer Dave Bruns, CPA, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP
Responsible for receipt of donations and registration fees, oversees meeting registration, pays meeting-associated expenses.
Conference cohosts Dr. John Hackett, Abbott Laboratories
Dr. Carl Waltenbaugh, Northwestern University
Responsible for the arranging meeting rooms, receptions, audiovisual, coffee breaks, etc.
Diversity Dr. Rafael Fernandez-Botran, University of Louisville
Coordinates Diversity outreach functions for the Autumn Immunology Conference.
Undergraduate program Dr. Sandra Burnett, Brigham Young University
Coordinates the participation of undergraduate students in the Autumn Immunology Conference
Advisor Dr. David Lubaroff, University of Iowa
By virtue of his/her longtime association with the Autumn Immunology Conference, provides advice to the Council
Councilor Dr. Bonnie Dittel, BloodCenter of Wisconsin
Chaired the previous year's meeting and serves as a resource for fellow Council members.
